Fantasy journey through life's trials, Rock and Roll Fantasy
Second long poem I recently published inspired by an 18th century style. A style that has become my favorite. This poem is somewhat auto biographical, but more of a fantasy adventure of a person's journey through life's trials and tribulations.
Excerpt
Strolling the streets of an ancient town
Double footbridges span the river
Deciding which to cross where I was bound
Try to remove from my spirit the sliver
Who would have the hands to deliver
Choosing one I gazed upon the other
Under the arch an eye did make me shiver
One glance not enough I took another
I could not breathe as if to smother
Was I asleep? As I opened my eyes
Did I pass out? What place is this?
The world I knew in disguise?
Strange check to mark off the list
I knew there was something I missed
I went to the window, raging storm blowing
My brain went numb emotions subsist
In my heart I felt a longing, yet knowing
Like eddies in a river, thoughts were flowing
Things looked gloomy, they did indeed
Shades of blue, purple, black and gray
I pondered where this dream would lead
Feeling only pangs of utter dismay
Would I wake up anytime this day?
Tired of trials every day anew
I wanted to escape in the usual way
God, “What the Hell do I have to do?”
