A study of the Biblical book of Revelation from a conservative evangelical Christian viewpoint.

Evangelical Christians believe that the last book of the Bible is a revelation from Jesus Christ to the Apostle John given more than 2,000 years ago while John was an exile of the Roman Empire on the island of Patmos in the Aegean Sea. The Revelation, given to John "on the Lord's Day" contains prophecies that take the reader from John's day to a future that is at least still more than 1,000 years ahead of where we are today.

This book explores the prophecies, not from a current events standpoint, but rather from the view point of John. The book is principally about Jesus Christ and His relationship to the history of the Christian Church, the end of the church age, the great seven years of tribulation, the thousand year kingdom of Christ on earth, judgments and eternity which includes a new heaven and a new earth. The title of the book references John's final prayer in the Revelation, "Even so, come, Lord Jesus."

Excerpt

John. His name means beloved, or lover of God. He was the Lord's choice to be the author of this important final book of the Bible.

John was on the island of Patmos, in the Aegean Sea. The island was used by the Romans as a place to put prisoners who had not committed crimes for which they could be executed. This volcanic island with its rough-hewn surface and scarcity of vegetation (except in the coastal areas) was a perfect place for the Romans to "store" prisoners, out of sight and out of mind.
