This is a short intro book to a series. It is small and a fast read. Though it is not a romance book it does describe adult situations, I would not suggest it for younger readers.

Please keep in mind that this is my first manuscript. As an author I am still learning technique, growing as my characters grow.

Tamson is a young lady in the late 1800's who wishes nothing then to be a good wife to her betrothed.   She is unaware that a vampire is stalking her, claiming her as his own.

She was ripped from her family, turned against her will, tormented, forced to kill, starved and subjected to many horrors of flesh and blood.

When a turn of events leads to her escape, she vows to never harm another innocent and to kill the one who made her.

Now for 100 years she has been running and training and it's her turn to start hunting. If she fails it will be her death. But does she have enough tricks up her sleeve to defeat one of the first vampires born at the dawn of time?

Excerpt

He told me of how he had searched for over a thousand years for a human to be born with my spirit and energy. A few lifetimes he had felt me enter then leave this world but had not been able to find me.
Now that he had me again, he would do all he could to protect and keep me. I learned little other than that I was supposed to be his wife. He never told me what vampires really were, or how we were made. Never where I was, or what he wanted us to be. I knew that I was supposed to be his. Nothing else.
Soon after I stopped asking questions and began to just listen, he gave me more liberties. I was allowed to walk around, always with him of course. He allowed me to roam around away from my room and dark hallways. I discovered I was in a huge house. An older house made of stone, brick and in some places the walls were just carved rock. Like the house was built into the ground. I was not, however, allowed to leave the house.
I was never allowed to touch another man, he said. I fed from his poor victims, young girls. I learned that he kept some in rooms better than mine. They were allowed to see out their tiny windows. Not all of them were kidnapped but all of us were a prisoner.
He had a few children that believed him to be their Father, but once they reached a certain age, they were food. Private stock he called these girls, when I asked.
“They taste better hand raised, the extra fear and confusion is delicious” He whispered as one girl skipped back to her room. I had learned not to cry in front of him, and bit my lip so I would not call out to her. I wept for all of them when I was in my room alone. I knew that one day I may see their faces when he had starved me and I had no control.
Some of the girls he brought me, and some that he fed from would survive. Either to be fed from them again, if it was his stock, or to let free with memories erased or altered. Those lucky few were also damned. They would always be scared of the dark but not know why.
He would bring them to us, read their minds to find their fears. He would have them live their fears in their minds as he fed from them. Claiming the fear made the blood flow stronger. He would cloud their memory just enough that they would not recognize us or the place, but they would always have a fear they could not explain.
It was almost as if he didn’t like killing them. He would leave them alive, afraid of him, even though they did not know it was him they feared. I saw that he was always for himself, and control. I hated him, but I could not resist eating when he starved me.
Sometimes he would not cloud their minds at all. He would let them see himself and I for what we were. Feed off them while they were awake and screaming, trying to pull away. He would bring me these meals after I hadn’t fed for over a week. I would be starving and instinct would kick in, I would feed. As soon as I had their blood in me, my senses would return and I would be holding them. They were screaming in my face and he was smiling from across the room.

After I had been quiet and docile around him for a while, He started to slowly let me have even more freedom. I was allowed into the gardens after a while, and I mistakenly thought he was being nice.
After a few nights of visiting the gardens and allowed free roam, he asked me which my favorite spot was. I finally choose a place that I liked more than any other in the entire garden.
“Good, this is where we will rest.” He told me. I was going to leave the room and no longer be burned by the sun each day. What should have felt like a blessing was a curse instead.
He found the one spot I enjoyed, and he took me down underneath it. He would never let me out at dusk. I remember thinking “He knows I would try to leave.” I just couldn’t remember anything about him, or us that would make him think that.
After that night, and my first day underground. He took me to a part of the house I had never seen before. It was a nicely built wing, but the decorations gave it a dreadful feel. I was taken to a huge bedroom. I turned around when I saw the bed. He smiled at me, the same smile he had when he made me feed.
“I told you, that you were mine. Now you will be, always.” I tried to run.
