This is a story of a war of attrition, a fictional story with certain fact based accounts that sweep the main characters into an international affair. After two years of pursuing and never capturing the woman who was responsible for intelligence leaks at MAC-V SOG. Captain Jake Range leaves the country of Vietnam feeling vanquished, because of his failure to bring to justice the enemy agent and VietCong commander Thao.
Seven tears later Jake is in Chicago working with the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). After a strange turn of events involving a drug related murder in China Town. Jake Range is drawn back into an unwanted revival of all the memories that he thought he had left behind, including the woman who had eluded him back in Bien-hoa.
A twisting and turning, constantly changing reality that takes him back to the violence of his past. Finding himself again on the trail of Thao and her hideously scarred psychotic bodyguard Chan. Eventually bringing him face to face with a reality he was totally unaware of until his final violent confrontation.

The Captain at that point felt the pressure from the door on his leg he knew he would only have one faint chance. He waited for a few seconds, and then he sprang driving the butcher knife all the way to its hilt into the side of the soldier. His scream was deafening, but as fast as the Captain had used his knife, it wouldn't be fast enough. "PoP"..."PoP"...The pistol quietly barked its lethal rounds, each discharge creating a flash as though from a camera catching those last moments of the Captains life. He died instantly, one round entering his heart the other piercing his lung, his life coming to an abrupt and violent dance with death. The soldier would make it to the vehicle where the other two soldiers waited; he would suffer with a mortal wound which would kill him close to Chicago. The other two soldiers would kick him from their moving vehicle leaving him on the side of a road somewhere north of Chicago in a country that was foreign to him. His life as his fathers had come to a very violent end, his father dying for his country and the soldier dying as a misguided disciple of this twisted woman.
