If you are new to grant writing, it can often take quite awhile before you feel you're "up to speed" on what's happening in the nonprofit world and where you fit in as a potential grant writer.

Excellent Guide for Aspiring Grant Writers

I've been interested in grant writing for a while and was excited to find this book! There seem to be a lot of books available on how to write grants but few of them teach you about the field of grant writing.
This book starts with the basics, i.e. what a grant is and what grant writers do, and follows with chapters on the type of skills needed for the job and where grant writers usually work. While these chapters were helpful, I got the most out of the second half of the book which focuses on the practical side like "A Day in the Life of a Grant Writer," "Education and Training," and "Getting a Job in the Field." The "Resources" section is also great because it has links to free training courses on the Internet and other related sites.
If you're thinking about becoming a grant writer, this is a great resource to learn about the ins and outs of the field. I found it very helpful. I highly recommend it!
