Though no single food-service operation has universal appeal, almost everyone loves hot dogs. With over 350 million men, women, and children in America, hot dogs provide a high-quality, low-cost meal. Americans consume over 18 billion hot dogs every year. 
 
Conservative estimates are that only 10% of all Hot Dogs sold in the United States are sold from Hot Dog Carts. This means that Hot Dog business has enormous growth potential. 
 
Selling Hot Dogs is not a trendy business. Hot Dogs have been sold for over one hundred years and they will be sold for a hundred more. 
 
Hot dog sales are up. Consumers are trading down rather than going to casual dining establishments. Hot dog stands are capitalizing on these food trends.  
 
They are cheap; the food is fresh; customizable; and portable; and if properly made, they taste really good. 
 
Disposable income is not a factor. In good times, people eat fast. In bad times, people eat cheap. But they have to eat.  
 
No one knows how many hot dogs are served daily. But because of their size and texture, hot dogs are one of the most common finger foods given to children. As the population increases and becomes more mobile, these estimates are anticipated to increase.
