Although it picks up where The Meri leaves off (quite literally) Taminy is really the beginning of a new story. Where The Meri dealt with the spiritual "coming-of-age" of a young girl, Taminy begins to examine the forces unleashed by that seemingly isolated event. While chronicling the upheaval after the founding of a new religious impulse, Taminy also, I think, gives some insight into the making of legend.

The begining of seeing a society wrestle with a cultural change towards the equality of women and men, and in that equality a place for exceptional women.
Again I loved to see characters chose to do good or evil. No one thinks they really do evil - and yet certainly they have.
