Motivation behind writing this book -
A lot of people jump into starting their business without adequately preparing for it, only to fail. And this happens not because they didn't have the money but because they didn't know ahead of time what 'really being in business' entails. Being in a job and being self-employed are two different things. Having coached thousands, my intention in writing this book was to provide them with insight and give them tools for making this possible for them. The real life examples of entrepreneurs makes this book more valuable as one is gaining from knowledge and experience from those who've already blazed the trail.

If you have ever wanted to start your own business then Before You Launch Your Business: How to Decide if Being an Entrepreneur is For Youby: Ruchira Agrawal is the book for you. The books gets you to look inside and then decide if being an entrepreneur is right for you. It is laid out very well. The chapters are well-organized from beginning to end.
I honestly wish now that I had read this book before starting my own business not that I regret my business but because this book provides enough insights that it would have been helpful. I love that Agrawal doesn’t give any false hopes or promises. You are instead encouraged to meet real entrepreneurs and learn what their lives are like.
There is no magic formula given that will make you a success. For me I had all sorts of “ideas” going into business only to realize that it way more work than I had ever imagined.
This book puts it all into perspective and allows the reader to make an informed decision.

Ruchira Agrawal was very informative on what you need to think about when you are contemplating starting your own business. The book contains information on what it means to be an entrpreneur and it gets the reader to explore different aspects of their lives to see if starting a business is for them. I particularly liked that a quiz was included so you can think about your personal qualities and decide if you are better at being the boss or an employee for someone else. The book is refreshing in that it does not overwhelm the reader and states simple, practical advice. The book is a great tool for anyone doing research on starting their own business.
If you’re thinking of making a change in your life, this
Before You Launch is very attractively laid out—a
book that entices you to at least look inside and see if “being an entrepreneur”
really “is for you.” The chapters are well-organized, starting with a page that
sets the tone and answers “Who will benefit from this book?” For myself, I’m not
sure if wanting to be a successful author makes me an aspiring, prospective or
wannabe entrepreneur, but this book helps me work through some of my dreams and
see the hard work that might have underlie them if I’m to succeed. It might be
just the book for me.
The author introduces the concept of “purpose-rich” business
in the introduction, drawing examples from her own life. With a non-threatening
mixture of friendly, chatty encouragement and essential questioning, readers are
led to ponder: What kind of business? What will it entail? And just how
different is the entrepreneur’s mindset from that of a regular employee?

short-cuts, no false promises, no magic pills. The reader is encouraged to meet
