The chaos ensuing inside the chamber he just left sounds frantic and desperate. Lanolas races back to the turmoil with fearful emotions approaching the archway exit of the hearth chamber. Ahead in the dimly lit chamber, he views a flurry of activity occurring inside the room he just departed. Reaching the archway, he stops dead in his tracks completely paralyzed by the visions occurring inside. The terrorizing events unfolding inside are unbelievable. Watching while holding his terrified limp body up using the archway, Lanolas watches Timlikâdam sail through the air across the room and hit the wall under the round opening entrance to the chamber on the other side. Desperately he cannot see what follows them. He stares towards the warming blue light from the hearth as his siblings run for their life screaming for help. Everything in the room appears normal. The hearth, the statuette…everything is exactly as he last viewed them. Scared and confused, Lanolas quickly kneels down to the floor as close as possible. Holding his bow tightly he studies his siblings and notices they never take their attention away from the back wall of the chamber. He is not sure they are aware of his presence. Curiously, he helplessly aims his bow around the room looking for target. He looks at the ceiling for a target as his brother and sister scamper about in peril. He stares awkwardly at his brother's expression of fear as Lanolee frantically jumps over a rock, but again never takes his gaze away from the back wall. Lanolee begins screaming in way Lanolas never heard before, a true life and death scream. Awkwardly his terrified little brother purposely jumps forward as if dodging something. Lanolee hits the floor, loses his balance, rolls over quickly and begins fleeing once again from the invisible menace terrorizing him. Gradually and helplessly, Lanolas' worried brow lessens as he slowly lowers his bow worrying what he must do to help. Elya and Lanolee begin tiring from their endless dodging ordeal. Suddenly Lanolas' keen senses detect a presence aside him upon the back wall. He slowly turns and focuses his gaze upon the back wall.

Very Surprising...enchant me more!
As I mentioned previously, I picked this up elsewhere but felt compelled to follow up my review on the first book. The way the first book just ends wasn't pleasing considering I had to buy this one to find out what happens. Yet, I am glad I did. I truly came to despise and hate this goblin king throughout the storyline, but by the end I didn't know how to feel anymore. You can say that he redeems himself, which may have been the point all along. I really did not expect the ending of this and the previous story to set forth such closure in such a magnificent way. My favorite part is the young elf boy receiving quite a gift at the end. Yet, other parts are equally intriguing including the introduction of a quest for a magical gavel, a yellow wizard and giants dwelling within icy lands. Again, the author delivers vivid suspenseful moments and mystical qualities unto this story making me cheer aloud for such a fantastic journey and unexpected ending. I believe I'll have to pick up the 3rd book now...the author has excited my thoughts and enchanted me somehow. It's definitely not what I expected.

Absolute wonderful story
I was so pleased to see this release, I thought I would be waiting until later in 2011 for this installment. Fantastically the author picks right up where he left us in The Middle Times: Rise of the Goblin King and takes the reader into an adventure of a lifetime. I'm not going to spoil anything for others...but WOW! I never saw it coming, what an intriguing perfectly weaved tale. The wizards, Lanolee, Lanolas and all the other characters are so cleverly written especially the diabolical goblin king Nifere AND what a splendid ending for the murderer Eltor...very fitting indeed. There are SO many wonderful chapters of suspense and right out laughable moments that I am beside myself. (the idea of Dopies is hilarious!) I believe I will have to start over and read both stories all the way through with my children for pure pleasure while awaiting the author's next installment which is obviously alluded to in the final paragraphs. My mind reels considering what the author has in mind next, I am totally hooked! The legends of Hazgal and Ildain included is a wonderful added bonus. Someone needs to get the rights for making a movie out of this wonderful fantasy story. My children will eagerly be the first in line to see it.
