Sha Yan writes both in Chinese and in English, and he already has four English works published under his English pen name, Sha Yan. As the title suggests, Qing Liu Book carries the word Qing, meaning emulating from Qing Dynasty scholar works, and it carries the word school in Chinese, then it is exclusively the scholarly work. And the poetry works themselves have the scent from Song and Ming Dynasty, meaning Confucius School of idealized philosophy of two dynasties. The book also had pure and refreshing, else pine, snow and light scent. By writing these poetry works, Sha Yan proclaims him as a Chinese scholar living in this contemporary world, in fact he did study Confucius, Buddhism and Taoism philosophy in his private time, and thus these studies enrich his living as a Chinese scholarly man.
