Something in his delicious voice made me narrow my eyes. I put the laptop and my mug down on the coffee table. "Both," I said, slowly.
"What materials do you prefer?"
I cackled. "This is a dirty phone call!"
"What? No, it's - I'm - what makes you say that?" the man spluttered.
"Oh, nothing." I stabbed towards the end call button. What happened next, I couldn't explain. An hour earlier I was tired, frustrated, and trapped in a rut I wasn't sure I could break. Now there was a tingle in places I could have sworn were rusty and dusty. Maybe I was channeling my younger self from wilder days. Or not. Who knows, there may have been something extra in that new free trade coffee blend.
Besides, a girl can't be embarrassed in front of a guy she'll never see again. I flopped down on the couch. "After I tell you satin by preference, silk if I must, what does your little survey say you should ask?"
"Er... the page says I should ask you what makes you prefer your top choice?"
"My goodness, does it really," I purred in my best pitch meeting voice. "If I told you the satin turns me on, what would you say next?"
There was a moment of silence. Then he said in the deepest possible tone, so low it made me shiver, "Well, I would ask you if you made the decision based on how the material felt..."
