Taking in the reality of the solitude of the night into his eyes, a crystal teardrop rolls down his leathered cheek and drops with the sound of the crackling thunder into the drink he now holds to his lips.
Yeah, Southern Comfort on the rocks, with a splash, has soaked away many aching nights like this before.
He suddenly holds the glass up away from
his salted lips. “What am I doing?” he exclaims and hurls the glass into the fireplace, where the alcohol causes the flames to rise briefly.
Another crackle of thunder sounds through the dead silence of his small mansion as the flames in the fireplace jump about greedily, afraid of their own extinguishing.
