Paige Chandling has left an abusive marriage and impulsively set out for Wyoming to recreate her life. When caught in a "whiteout" (blizzard) and stranded on the side of a lonely road, she is overcome by carbon monoxide. Local rancher/cowboy Quaid Kincaid comes to her rescue.

Paige finds herself attracted to him although his cool aloofness leaves a lot to be desired. Both have baggage from their previous marriages to overcome and Paige must learn the ways of Wyoming people and ranch life.

When she realizes she's in love with him, her ex surprises her with a visit that puts her on pins and needles. Meanwhile, Quaid is losing the ranch, but Paige has a plan to change all that. But can she implement it in time? Will Quaid welcome or spurn her efforts? Will her ex put a kink in things? Only Paige and Quaid can overcome their differences in a rough land that requires strong, tough people.
