This historical novel portrays the life and works of the Essene healer and beloved disciple of Jesus, Mary of Magdala. It is based, in part, on the Gospel of Mary discovered in 1896 by an Egyptologist in a Cairo bookshop; the Gnostic Gospels found near Nag Hammadi, Egypt in 1945; and the contemporary gnostic texr, Abraham the Intiator on Spirit, Will and Ego. Though most of Mary's gospel is possibly lost forever, enough information remains in all of these documents to provide an intriguing glimpse of the mystical Mary Magdalene and her favored relationship to Jesus. Tragically, cneturies would pass while she remained condemned as a whore in orthodox Christian teachings. Even today, decades after the original discoveries, she remains either forgotten, or when remembered, denigrated. This novel is dedicated to the memory of Mary Magdalene.
