Captivating
An excellent read and very well written. The plot and story are fantastic, fast moving and a stimulus to the imagination. There are no boring bits and it is a wonderful gift to humanity. I could not put the book down but got so engrossed in the story that I forgot my surroundings. It keeps you wanting to know what is going to happen next.
Even though Ben and Josh have these psychic powers and this is a work of fiction, the story highlights the brutal reality of the drug business and the pain this inflicts on the relatives of its victims. It is a message to youths not to be fooled and make these drug barons richer at the expense of ruining their health and maybe losing their lives. Links with terrorists are also a reality in our world today and the last chapters have you gripping the book with suspense and anxiety. The harsh endurance of Ben brought tears to my eyes.
The story is an intellectual, emotional and psychological stimulus and I am curious about the mystery of what happened in the forest and how this affected Sam, Jake and Cathy. I like the romance bits too, and its not just sex but there is genuine love too and this love blows up Ben's cover and shows his humanity. I like Jake and Ben and the impact that they have on each other's lives. One would not have survived without the other.
The Blake Curse is definitely one of the books that is worth a second read. I can imagine that the story and its unravelling would look very good on the big screen too and I hope to see it in the cinema one day. I hope to meet these characters again in a sequel as this book is a pleasing and enjoyable experience. Well done.
Chilling with a great premise
From the first page, I was hooked by this great story. The author has a tremendous sense of pace and the book rarely slows long enough to take a deep breath. It's a love story intertwined with a touch of the paranormal spiced with a bit of espionage. Tough to throw all of those things together but in this book, it's done seamlessly and makes for a great story.
I developed a strong sense of ownership for the characters which is key to my personal enjoyment of a book.
I'm glad I downloaded The Blake Curse and I hope you get the book and enjoy it as much as I have.
Amazing read
5 Stars is simply not enough.
I will tell you that I read The Blake Soul first and thought it was amazing . I loved it and was glad I read it first. The Blake Curse captivated me from the very start, I cannot recommend these books highly enough they grip you and don`t let go - 6 hours straight without the loo!!!!!!! Sorry serious head back on again.
I have no idea how to classify this book, it is a romance following two different stories, it is also a thrilling drama that is relentless from the start. I loved the family connection as well; the bond between the father and son just melts my heart. Anyway I am getting ahead of myself; let me set you the scene.
We meet up with Ben, the young son we met in The Blake Soul ( I will add you do not have to have read The Blake Soul to read this book, but I would recommend to) Ben is an intelligent, attractive man who has proven himself invaluable to the British Intelligence agency. He will do anything to protect his family and fulfil his duty, that is until his assignment crosses paths with Cathy and Sam. Ben must interact with both women to obtain vital information but both women change his world right until the end. But it is not just these characters that the book focuses on, Jake is a deeply traumatised man fighting his own demons, he too must battle Ben as he is focussed on succeeding.
The twists and turns in this story had me questioning each characters motive throughout, the vicious and dramatic storyline had my heart in my mouth. The characters are so well written you immediately bond and take the journey with them. A journey that, trust me, I would not like to take alone. I do not want to give any of the story away so it is difficult to explain the raw emotions that the author provokes as each character has to choose to accept their destiny or change it.
5 Stars is not enough, a fantastic, fast, thrilling, romantic, scary at times, journey. I dare not even think where the author will take us in the final instalment.
