Selene Kinsey has just officially declared her husband missing.
For her, It feels as though she has just declared him dead.
Unwilling to give up on the undeniable bond of love they shared, she vows to search to the ends of the Earth and Time to find her beloved Desmond.
Her body, exhausted and weak, is unrelenting. Her mind, clever and resolute, is crumbling. The longer he is gone, the lesser her chance of finding him.

Then, as though her biological clock was now attuned to it, she knew the time. She took one last panning glare across the horizon, then turned to cross the room. Her dress twirled a bit as she spun around. Crossing the kitchen and into the dining area she strode, she was ready to face it this time. Once again, over to the table and into the chair she went, but this time with confidence.
She placed her hands on the table, one on either side of the book. It was almost time. She looked at her hands. She was at once battered and beautiful. She had recaptured her resolve. She was going to find Desmond.
She drew in a long, slow, deep breath.

Not beast

Beg if I need
Borrow if I require
Steal if I cannot do without

The book again closed.
These were not Desmond's words.
They were her own.
Selene, for the first time, inspected the cover of the book. At first glance it appeared as simply a tangle of ivy. She did not recall having noticed the five thorns of red, arranged in an arc. She remembered the cover being muted in color, as though it may have once been vibrant in color, but over countless ages, worn itself down to the rather plain state it was in now. There had to be a pattern here, something like this couldn't simply be random, it just wasn't presenting itself. She needed someone else's perspective. She knew it was late.
' Sorry honey...' she thought, as she leapt from the table and proceeded to the front door.
She was standing at Sarah's front door in no time. Having now knocked for the third time, she was beginning to wonder if her friend was home. The sounds of rustling and stumbling coming toward the door prompted Selene to put away her key and let Sarah answer the door herself. Selene could feel the tension rising, to the point that she was bouncing in place, with each successive click of Sarah's locks being undone. As soon as the door crept open, Selene reached inside and pulled her friend out into the hallway.
" Whoa, sweetie!!!" Sarah exclaimed as she struggled to re-close her short silken robe.
" No time honey, there's something I need you to see right now!" Selene proclaimed as she began to drag her friend down the hall.
" Wait... like this? Can I at least get dressed first?"
" No... no... there's no time... you need to come with me now!"
Sarah considered this for a moment as she continued to be led to the elevator. 'Boy shorts and a tank top underneath a robe... I think I've gone clubbing in less' she thought.
