Paris, the grand city of lights, is about to go dark as an unspeakable ancient force moves on the city. Malcolm Quinn, a young American, seeking to escape the tragedy of his adolescent past, travels to Paris in search of a new life among the street artists of Montmartre. While selling used books on the street to earn a living, Malcolm befriends Trechus, a handsome young Greek professor from the Sorbonne. Malcolm remains suspicious of the professor’s kind gestures but becomes captivated by Trechus and his colorful friends. When he accidentally learns the shocking truth about Trechus’ true identity, he finds himself kidnapped and locked away in an ancient chateau in the French countryside. As a ten thousand year old secret is revealed to him, he must quickly submit to a new way of life if he is to survive in this fantastic new world of superhuman creatures and foreboding dark forces.
