Excerpt Golden light from the morning sun poured across the meadow of Forquest Fields like warm liquid. Creatures were starting to stir and scuttle and buzz, breathing in the new day. One particular creature, living up high above the ground, was a most odd creature for he was a wishall. This tiny being slept upon the fl uffy yellow pollen buds of the smallest sunfl ower and was named Plip. On this morning Plip woke to the bright glossy sun sifting in through the opening petals of his sunfl ower. Stretching out his arms really wide, he yawned and snuggled into the fl uffy pollen buds. As they did every morning, the friendly forest bees that Plip warmly called ‘buzzies’, circled around the sunset colored petals of his home. “Wake up!” cried the buzzies, “wake up!” As the large fl eshy petals stretched open, Plip waved at his friends and then yawned such a big yawn that he accidentally inhaled some of the pollen. His nose began to twitch and his mouth silently opened wider and wider until he let out a huge sneeze. The bees buzzed and giggled as they watched Plip try to hang on to his wobbling bed. They zipped in closer to tickle him with their gauzy wings. Plip began to laugh so hard he cried out for the buzzies to stop. “Ooohhh, ahhh,” he cried as they whirled up more pollen and made him sneeze again.

This is such a beautiful book for children from about 6 and up - younger if you read it to them. The illustrations are incredible - bright and magical - my daughter was fascinated.

It's a story about a little boy who is very lonely and after making a wish, a little creature appears. His name is Plip and he can fly - he is a Wishall. The little boy makes him a bed in his mother's ring box and they play in the sunshine etc. The imagery is really lovely. When the little boy grows up he doesn't need Plip anymore and so Plip decides to go out into the forest to find another friend.

The story that follows is delightful. Lots of forest creatures enter the frame and a fairy called Lilly and a dragonfly called Dree join the journey to find another Wishall. It is magical and exciting whilst not being scary.

It's been re-read about 5 times so far! In a word: Delightful.
