"Way To Go Kiddo" is a wonderful story set against the backdrop of WWII. It is reminiscent of an old-time movie from the 40's, filled with elements of nostalgia and, if you are from that generation, will remind you of a simpler time. The illustrations are an excellent accompanyment to the story and will leave you with a sense that love conquers all. Good story...good illustrations...all in all, it's a very well done book.

Alan Hines' Way To Go Kiddo combines excellent artwork and a plotline that evokes our fondest memories of what Tom Brokaw titled the "Greatest Generation." Marina and Donald are clearly drawn characters that we can believe will and should achieve the American dream. The heroes move quickly through the first years of World War II and into their roles as successful entrepreneurs and family makers in the burgeoning American economy of the latter half of the 20th Century. Hines portrays clearly the "can-do" feeling of successful middle class Americans and the personal strength their trials engendered in them. Do not miss this delightful read and its memorable artwork.

This was a very good book, the illustrations were really well done, almost like looking at a scrapbook! I actually used the "photos" as a referece for some sketches I've been working on. I was intriqued at the quality and wish I could watch the artist as he drew. Good work, GREAT Story!
