The second dark fantasy novel in "The Baker's Dozen Saga". This book was published in May 2012.

In the first novel, twelve individuals were kidnapped from their home realities and deposited on an Earth where Atlantis never sank, magic (many types) is powerful therefore causing technology never to develop (except for irrigation).

The dozen people had many things in common, especially the fact they were genetically identical. The Earths, however, which each called home were often very different. For example, in one Rome never fell and, on another, Britain still has a vast empire and is a neo-Victorian Age. These people wanted to get home so they enlisted the aid of an Etherman (a wizard using power that runs the Cosmos itself) and some of his friends.

They experienced many adventures and witnessed marvels the like they'd never seen. Many hands were turned against them, mostly by a necromantic despot who had an interest in them plus totally conquering that Earth. They defeated him but at great cost: one of the twelve dies and another has to make the ultimate sacrifice: killing someone he loves.

In the 2nd book, Paul Baker Colson, sometime leader of the group, wanders the north and west of that world's Canada, leaving the rest behind. He wants to be alone due to the guilt of his previous actions. He, however, is tracked by Sleeps-in-the-Sun, a shaman and member of the group. They finally catch up to him in a settlement of Antlanteans, where he has contacted another Etherman, who later, in a surprise twist, turns out to have a strong connection to him.

Meanwhile, another evil force from the past has arisen and tricked a less-powerful ally into gaining strength to plague Earth far worse than their foe in the first book...

As in the first book there are several plot twists and I often used personal narratives throughout, to give all the characters their own voices.
