A time - traveling journalist interveiws Alexander the Great. He thinks she's Persephone, Goddess of the Dead, and kidnaps her. Now she's stranded 3000 years from her own time.
The story begins as Alexander has just beaten Darius for the second time, and Ashley is sent to interview him. Alexander rescues her, mistaking her for the goddess Persephone being kidnapped herself by the cold god of the underworld, Hades. (It was just the time-tractor beam but he mistook its freezing blue light for Hade’s minions.) Ashley is now trapped in a time three thousand years removed from her own. She falls in love with Alexander, and marries him. Then she is once more kidnapped, this time by Alexander’s scheming mother, Olympias. For one year she is held prisoner in a temple in Mazda, where she gives birth to a son she names Paul. The boy is taken from her when he is just ten days old. She escapes during an earthquake and goes to Babylon where Alexander is about to marry his first wife, one of Darius’s daughters. She tells him about his son, and he swears to find him. Together, they set off in search of Paul – whom the oracles call ‘the Child of the Moon’.
