Writers On The Wrong Side Of The Road is an anthology which features short stories across several genres. My contribution is "The Barefoot Hero," a work of literary fiction.
"The Barefoot Hero" is the bittersweet story of a man who discovers the meaning of a friend's life when he attend's the friend's funeral. It is restrospective on the brutality and ravages of the Vietnam War and what its survivors endured. The story has received several rave reviews. Literary critic Lisa Lane wrote, " 'The Barefoot Hero' brought tears to my eyes. The story is bittersweet, tragic and brilliantly written. The characterization is deep and thoughtful, leading to a conclusion that is as painful as it is gratifying. A lovely story." Kaye Trout of Midwest Book Reviews gave the anthology five stars.
My second book is about a boy who has Asperger's Syndrome and is bullied to the point to where he shoots up his school. I have divided the excerpts from it into three parts: Before, during and after the shooting.
