“Are you all set for the inspection?” Vanessa asked. “No worries or problems?”
“I think I’m well-prepared,” Emma replied, puzzled.
“Good. Well I have no concerns on that score either as I know you to be an exemplary teacher.”
“Thank you.” Emma felt herself blushing.
“But there is a slight problem that came to light yesterday. I wanted to sleep on it before discussing it with you and I toyed with the idea of waiting until after the inspection but seeing you this morning made me realise there’s never a better time than the present. You see, Mrs Harper came to see me yesterday to tell me you have embarked on a…relationship with her former husband.”
Emma was too surprised to answer and merely stared at her superior.
“Mrs Harper feels that because of your position as Sophie’s teacher, there could be a conflict of interests involved if this were true. She considers it a breach of professionalism. Of course I assured her that your conduct had always been beyond reproach and I was sure there would be some innocent explanation. I seriously doubt she’ll take the matter any further, but I felt I should make you aware of her feelings. I know I can depend on you to conduct yourself in the correct way, Emma.”
Emma nodded. The interview seemed to be over. Vanessa didn’t pry, didn’t ask any questions, merely - and with her usual tact - left the ball squarely in Emma’s court. Emma hurried to her classroom feeling her cheeks burning with embarrassment and humiliation.

Shopping for Love - Another Masterpiece!
Rather than tell the plot of the story here, I think I will just say that Ms Sofras' story-telling is masterful. I love the way she makes the characters believable and 'normal'. The dialogues are smooth and natural and it is still a pleasure to have the sex scenes left to the imagination. There is absolutely no need to have the torrid and sometimes embarrassing scenes spelt out to the adult reader; most of us are capable of imagining. The story flows effortlessly along and you get swept up into the tide of emotions. I am not easily pleased by novels and I think I am quite hard on the writers, but I have yet to read one of Ms Sofras' novels and not like it - it is clear that to be able to write so fluently, somewhere along the line, she must have experienced the day to day turmoils of this couple and their respective ex's! There is humour as well as raw emotion and the scenes between Greg's father and grandfather brought a tear to my eye - for me, that means it is a great book! Please keep on writing - you have a great talent.
Shopping for Love - Absolutely Loved It!
So unbelievably difficult to put down! I very nearly went without sleep for 2 days because I kept picking it up before going to bed and then couldn't stop. This is the second of Lynette's books that I've read now and they are both brilliant. She has such talent for creating believable characters and displaying their personalities effortlessly. I fell in love with the main characters (and the children) and felt Greg's anger and resentment towards his ex-wife. The emotions just pour out of the page as they did in 'The Apple Tree'. I can't wait to read another!
Shopping for Love - A delightful story
I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful story by Lynette Sofras. She has created very real characters who live `ordinary' lives, one a schoolteacher, the other a computer expert. All seems to be going well for them - until Emma's ex-boyfriend and Greg's ex-wife start causing problems.
Ms. Sofras' writing is a pleasure to read and the story flows well. Although you know there will be a happy ending, there are times when you wonder how it is actually going to happen!
Highly recommended!
