With the help of a Vietnamese shaman a 21st Century college couple hook up with a 20-year-old Vietnam Veteran. Together they learn of life, love and the cost of civil war.

Snared

is what happens when a 21st-century college couple hooks upSnared is an excellent read

with a dispirited Vietnam vet just returned home in 1969. With the help of

a Vietnamese shaman, they meet in 1861 southern Ohio. The threesome,

of the same age but from far different times and cultures, is forced to live

in a world that is foreign to all three.

The American Civil War is just beginning. Both the North and the South

are righteous in their beliefs. Both believe the war will be short, close to

bloodless, and both sides predict victory with God on their side.

Filled with romance, humor and suspense,

guaranteed to make the reader rethink the cost of war. In suspenseful

scene after scene, Dillon pulls the reader along a wonderful ride of escaped

slaves, murder, duplicity, humor and, finally, love and peace. You won’t

put this one down until the end.

Excerpt

Friday, August 26, 1861, 11:05 a.m.
Tom dropped the stein, and the rap it made hitting the
wooden floor made Lori jump almost as much as the
unexpected voice had done. Both college students raised
their arms and slowly turned to face their captor.
The man in the doorway stood an easy 6 feet, weighed a
muscular 180 pounds and wore his blond hair long, tied in
a ponytail with a long, thin strip of rawhide. He looked
about the same age as Tom and Lori, in his early 20s. He had
about a week’s worth of beard on his square jaw.
The man was self-identified with an army fatigue shirt
that had the name Justus embroidered above the left
pocket. An old-fashioned pair of elephant-bell Levi’s and
cloth, dirty, white sneakers finished off the outfit.
A twelve-inch knife in a leather sheath hung from his
belt, and he pointed an M-16 assault rifle at the center of
Tom’s gut.
“Both of you take your clothes off.” His voice demanded
compliance; it was deep, resonant, and authoritative.
