"Timbo and a Fair Cop" is an adventure story about a small mouse who lives with his friends and family in a little village called Buttoned-Bootsville. In reality, this is just a small patch at the end of a human family's garden. Timbo wants to be a great detective when he grows up, but an opportunity presents itself early when his family's heirloom grandfather clock is stolen. Timbo was a young mouse, a small mouse, a brown mouse and, above all, an adventurous mouse. He had bright eyes, twitching whiskers and a face that was best described as dirty. He lived with his mother, Mrs. Tucker, and his grandfather, Grandpa Tucker, and they worked together taking in laundry to make ends meet. Their home was an old broken tea-pot in the shape of a thatched cottage. Timbo liked where they lived. It was far better than some of his friends’ houses, for most of the houses in the village were made from old shoes and boots left around by the humans. Such homes, though much in demand, often had a very distinctive smell about them and, quite frankly, Timbo preferred the smell of old tea to that of old sock. Darjeeling was appealing, but sock was not! Not surprisingly, because of the shape of most of the houses, the village was known as Buttoned-Bootsville. It seemed all the world to Timbo, but it was actually just a very small patch at the bottom of a human family’s garden. This was, in turn, just a very small patch in a remote corner of the world. The Culpepper family owned this remote corner and it was in this corner of their corner that they dumped much of their rubbish and unwanted odds and ends. The Culpeppers had many growing children, all with growing feet and this, did the mice but know it, was the reason why from time to time two new houses would drop from the sky.
