A story of death, survival, revenge, and even love. Two people, worlds apart are on a collision course with destiny. One, an assassin. A man who lives in a world where a king’s word is not questioned, and if it is, well that is what he is for. The other, a young woman whose world is about to come crashing down around her.

Set in the shadows of Pirates Alley, and steps from the famous Saint Louis Cathedral, book two follows Tegrin and Kristina, with her friends, Jimmy and Sissy, as they embark on a journey to New Orleans to hunt, Alexasia, the High Priestess of the Couton Clan, and her sisters. Alexasia’s lust for human memories, combined with the dark magic of Voodoo, makes for a powerful enemy. One that the four companions are determined to destroy at all cost.

Mckevitt says; “The Hunted, is far more complex than just a battle of good over evil, or one enemy over another. Each of these characters, good or bad, is in conflict with their own inner demons, as well as the external forces that cold destroy them all. I quote, ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.’ We shall see.”

Excerpt

“What did Boulfor tell you about me and my sisters, bodyguard?”
He looked away. Billy’s description of the Couton Priestess and her followers was a mixture of curse words and vampire-like lore. Those bitches aren’t going to come here and play nice, Joey Boy. You watch what I’m telling you. They only want one thing. To feed off some unsuspecting ass until there’s nothing left. They use their beauty and bodies to get what they want, making you feel like they are your every desire. My brother’s in love, and he thinks he has it all figured out. You wait and see. We’re going to pay for this one.
“You do not need to answer. I am everything he has told you and more. I came to this world for one reason, to hunt and feed as I desire.”

Her people exiled by the Patwain king, High Priestess Alexasia of the Couton race escapes with her council of sisters across the Fracture to Earth. Having enchanted the once high council to the king with her seductive prowess, Alexasia takes over Sauldron’s plans and his riches once both he and his brother Boulfor have been “managed” out of the picture. Upon discovering that Earth holds a great deal of untapped magic, specifically that found in the voodoo that permeates New Orleans, Alexasia combines with this dark force making her virtually unstoppable. But there are those who stand against her. The question is whether they will they be powerful enough to stop the evil that grows in strength each day within their adversary.

In book 2 of The Secret Enemy Saga, Virginia McKevitt, takes the story into its next chapter. The plot is interesting, but similar to the first book, what I enjoyed most was the depth of characterization and backstories of the protagonists as well as their developing relationship. While the first book focused on Kristina and Tegrin, book 2 explores Sissy and Jimmy. Both have violent pasts that they have kept from one another and both want desperately to move on from these darker days. Unfortunately, instead of moving on from them, they have to embrace their past using their skills and relationships from these days to battle the Couton. Without tapping into these, they will not survive, but in surviving will they sacrifice their future?

I do wish that the next book will further develop Kristina’s gifts – there is more there to be offered I am sure of it. Perhaps a third chapter will have her back in Patwain where her full potential may be realized.

For those who enjoyed book 1, pick up a copy of this second offering.

The Secret Enemy Saga

The Hunted
by Virginia McKevitt

New Orleans better watch out, there is a new threat and it isn't the weather. The Couton have made their way to the city and are making themselves at home. And it is up to Tegin and Kristina, along with their friends, Sissy and Jimmy, to rid the famous city of its newest members before the body count rises.

Review: This is book 2 in The Secret Enemy Saga. This is a fast paced, paranormal mystery, centered on the Couton and those hunting them, Tegrin and Kristina. In this book, they are helped by Sissy and Jimmy who's story is sweet. Jimmy is an ex marine who has seen his share of killing. But he knows that Sissy has a soft heart and tries to protect her from the more graphic things along the way. But what I enjoyed most was the continuing story of Kristina and the relationship between her and Tegrin. I like that the author is able to keep the story going without me thinking, is this story ever going to end, but instead I cant wait to see what happens next. it really was a good, fast paced adventure. So, if you like paranormal mystery this is certainly the book (or books) for you.

The second in an exciting new series, "The Hunted" is an enthralling and completely
addicting delight! This story grabs the reader from the very first page, wraps them around its fingers and never lets go. The subject matter is considerably darker than the first installment with the murders more numerous and descriptive...
The relationship and love that is deepening between Kristina and Tegrin is, in itself, ample reason to anxiously await the next book!
