Tonya blinked back the tears. "I think a lof of people owe him an apology," she whispered."
She had a lot of bitterness in her, she admitted. But she could not be blamed for that.
"All those people that booed him. I wonder how they feel. Do you think that they had anything to do with my husband being dead? Is that bothering their conscience? I think it might have something to do with it. Can they live with theirself, knowing each and every day that Donnie Moore might be dead because they didn't have enough courage to give him a hand?"
She clapped her hands together several times to demonstrate what she meant, and in the tiny hotel room there was the sharp sound of the applause her Donnie never heard after he gave up that home run.
