Susannah pulled away from the door after Intlack had left, grasping at her slipping negligee and breathing hard. “What a little — worm!” She thought of Intlack on Snotty’s arm and giggled. Poor little worm, his great, childish dignity all gone. She began to laugh, then sobered as she heard footsteps pounding down the hallway. She was unsurprised when Chiang tore through the drapery door.
“WHAT — DID — YOU --DO?”
She swallowed hard, striving to recover her own dignity. “I — I gave Intlack his first instruction in deportment.”
