Jake Caldwell is a retired Los Angeles Police Department Detective.  When Jake retired, after twenty-five years on the force, he decided to establish the Caldwell Detective Agency in Los Angeles, California, with this longtime friend and former partner in the LAPD.  One of the most interesting cases the Agency received, is when Mrs. Elizabeth Murphy hires the Detective Agency to determine if her Husband Jack Murphy, who is a wealthy Los Angeles Stock Broker, has committed suicide as the LAPD had indicated, or is murdered, by a person or persons unknown.     Jake and his partner, Ed O 'Riley take the case , which leads them in to the world of gambling and organized crime.Maria Vasquez, Jakes longtime girlfriend, who is a famous Los Angeles Criminal Attorney also becomes involved in the case to help determine if it's a murder or suicide.The investigation leads them to Jack Murphy's mistress who I living at the Century Plaza Hotel, in Beverly Hills California and his obsession with gambling at the Horseraces, Las Vegas and finally setting up his own Gambling Casino in Gardena California. <
