Excerpt Las Vegas was fun but tended to wear on Rick after a while. He was anxious to get back home and catch up with life in Chicago. Melody had visited the restroom and they were going to board their flight back home when she returned. It seemed as though Melody had been gone a long time and Rick was wondering if she was okay. After several minutes and numerous boarding announcements over the PA, Rick grew impatient. When Rick heard the last call for flight 1418 to Chicago, he got really nervous and upset with Melody. “What the hell is she thinking?” he said to himself. Rick grabbed his carry-on bag and rushed down the corridor to the nearest women’s rest room. Through the open doorway he yelled, “Hey Melody we have to get going, they just announced a final call for boarding.” There was no reply. “Melody, are you in there?” he called. Again there was no reply. Rick pulled out his cell phone and called her. After several rings, he was put into voice mail. Rick hurried back to the gate hoping that Melody had somehow got past him. She wasn’t there. She couldn’t be on the plane because she would not do that without him and besides he had the boarding passes. To be sure he ran up to the counter to talk to the agent. The woman assured him that Melody could not have gotten on the plane without a boarding pass. Rick explained the situation and asked the agent to check just to be sure Melody didn’t somehow board the plane. The agent called the cabin phone and reached a flight attendant. She asked the attendant to do a search for Melody. The flight attendant checked Melody and Rick’s seats and they were empty. On the loudspeaker, the agent requested that Melody comes to the front of the plane. After several minutes, she called the gate agent and told her that Melody was not on the plane. The agent told Rick that she was sorry but they were getting ready to depart and that if he wanted to board, he would have to do so right then. Rick sighed with frustration. He was perplexed. When the plane door closed, Rick actually felt some relief. He no longer had to worry about catching the flight. He knew that it was not going to happen. Rick walked down the hallway, carefully checking out every face so as not to miss Melody. He returned to the same rest room and called out, “Melody, are you in there?” There was no answer. Rick continued down the concourse checking every restaurant and shop for her while keeping an eye on the concourse so that she didn’t get by him without him seeing her. He called into each of the other rest rooms in Concourse D. There was no Melody. Rick returned to the gate. There was still no Melody. Again he tried calling her but was again put into voice mail. Sweat was now dampening his face, his breathing ragged. Distraught, Rick covered the terminal from end to end, searching for Melody while calling her cell phone over and over to no avail. No matter how hard he tried, the results were the same: no Melody. “What could have happened to her and what should I do now?” he asked himself. He was genuinely worried. “Oh God, help me.”

Oh so you do like mysteries? Don't buy this book if you are looking for another boring formula plot mystery with flat and predictable characters playing their bit role. This book has a bold and different view on what a mystery can be and it craftily interweaves multiple plotlines and rich characters that keep you guessing all the way through. I was drawn in and it held me there with the plot twists and turns - to keep me reading "just one more chapter" than I planned for. The book moves you from a husband in distress, to investigators working their magic in the field, to the shady underworld and back while you travel across the country trying to find Melody and the reasons for her disappearance. Is she the victim or the perpetrator? Is she alive or dead? How do all those pieces of her history fit together? I couldn't quite figure out which way was up, and it was a thrilling ride right up to the end.

Sequel Please
From the first page, this book captivates. One Lost Melody draws the reader in and when the reader thinks the mystery is solved, the story line throws the reader a twist.
The plot is suspenseful and engaging and is about so much more than just a lost lady. This reviewer eagerly awaits the sequel to One Lost Melody!
