Technically a person was not allowed to take anything into the visiting room except the visiting paper and they even grabbed that once you walked inside. I also had to walk through annoying metal detectors which made me feel violated. If the beep went off, the C.O. would have you take off jewelry and shoes. If you were wearing clothing that had metal on it, he would either use a metal detector wand to check you, ask you to remove the clothing, or just simply wouldn’t let you go through to the visit; after a while, I would come to learn this procedure well and become an expert on what and what not to wear. But on this first visit, I still didn’t know any better. I even came armed with my armor, My Bible. The prison officials would not let me go in with my bible. Now I knew that my guard would be down a bit during the visit if I didn’t have my armor, but I also knew God had me covered with his blood. I just prayed that he would give me strength because I know that the strength I had was not that great without being protected with the word. Only a clergy were allowed to bring bibles into the visiting rooms and even that had to be approved ahead of time. I didn’t know any of this, but it was the order of things and things should be done decently and in order. “Harold’s visit!” the C.O. said. Okay! That’s my Queue, time to meet Harold. I had seen the picture of him that he sent through Curtee, so I sort of knew what to expect. He was very attractive breath taking, he had cocoa colored skin, hazel eyes; I felt like I was looking into my own hazel eyes. He was about 180 pounds, wore his hair in waves, his uniform was pressed so neat, with a straight crease in the pants and the arm of his shirt as though they were sent to the cleaners. When I saw him walk into the room for the first time, more than anything my flesh began to kick in. Thank God no one knew but me and the Lord! Love it!
This book was awesome, enlightening and educating for any woman of all relationship statuses. It gives such insight from many point of views even hers prior to being in the same situation. She spelled out exactly what happens and can happen if we're not too careful! It is a must read, spread the word and get in the know now Warning, DON'T GO THERE, because once you do......... it's no telling if you can ever come back! Looking forward to the next read.
