My dad would always rush in to comfort me.
This was not a nightly childhood ritual for me, once a month or so as I can remember back. My parents never really told me to watch out for the Boogey Man. I'm pretty sure I received this information directly through the osmosis of daily life.
I have talked to a few friends about their childhood fears. There seems to be one thought embedded in each story.
