He’d heard self-professed abductees tell their stories on numerous talk shows, but he never believed them. He didn’t want to believe them. Now he was being forced to. Was he an abductee? Had he been kidnapped by some diabolical alien out of a Ridley Scott film? He couldn’t remember. Maybe his experience was buried somewhere deep inside his subconscious mind. Maybe it was so deeply embedded that only hypnosis could bring it to the surface.
“We’ve lost time?” was all Graham could say.
A sinister feeling overwhelmed him. Goose bumps raised every hair on his arms. His stomach wretched again, like someone had a fist full of his intestines and they were being crushed and twisted.
Daniels was in even worse shape, he was unequivocally panic-stricken. “What happened in those twenty minutes Graham? Huh? What happened? I was outside. Why was I outside? Why…? Who are they? What do they want?”
He shook his head spasmodically as he threw more questions Graham’s way. He was becoming more and more agitated. “What did they do to us? Huh? What did they do to us?”
Daniels’ face was chalky white, looking more like a ghost than a living human being. The iris in his pupils had a blackness darker than any moonless evening. His salt and pepper eyebrows contorted into a spiraled coil. His nostrils flared. His entire body began to twitch.
“I don’t know,” Graham responded swallowing hard. “I don’t want to know…” The horror on his face was enough to curdle anyone’s blood.
And then Graham saw something that was even more disturbing. It was unbelievable, unimaginable. Looking up at Daniels he saw it. His eyes bulged as he covered his mouth with dread. The jitters were back and this time they were here to stay.
“It can’t be true. No way can it be true,” his jaw sagged, his mind screamed.
When Daniels saw Graham’s face he froze. What now, he thought, what else could happen to me tonight? For sure he was gonna hand in his resignation in the morning…that is if he survived the night. There was a little less than two hours before sunrise.
Without saying a word, Graham pointed directly at Daniels’ face. Daniels quickly clasped his chest. At first he thought there might be someone behind him. He was afraid to look, but swiveled quickly on his heels only to see a room full of emptiness. He turned back slowly toward his coworker, puzzled that he was still pointing at him. His jaw hung limp, his eyes stared numbly.
Daniels could no longer contain his emotions, “what dammit? What is it?”
