David Lau is a postgraduate student from Hong Kong, working under the renown Bioinformatician Simon Wong. He finished his PhD study years ago, but his boss holds up his paper and has not published it. His work was about a groundbreaking technique in decoding DNA: the extraction of memories from DNA. In order to wait for his work to be published, he has to work as a research assistant in Wong's research team for years, dreaming for that day when his boss is finally going to publish his work in a scientific journal. Yet out of David's expectation, he meets a Historian, Yossi Montefiore, in a conference about DNA decoding. Yossi invites David to help him in the research of the Crusades in Jerusalem, given David's expertise in DNA memory extraction. 
Eventually, David is convinced to go to Jerusalem with Yossi. Yet what he has found among the ancient corpses are not simply memories, but a lost lamentation of the past, filled with anguish and despair that echo with the present...
P.S. The main body of this book is written in verse. It is consisting of different soliloquies of several characters, arranged as a set of narrative poem. It includes the soliloquies of the famous Queen Sibylla, Guy of Lusignan and Baldwin IV, the Leper King. The poem also includes a soliloquy from a Jew about the holocaust in Jerusalem during the first Crusade.
