Words of Comfort provides hope, support and a change in perspective that can help the bereaved move successfully from the darkness of loss to the light of renewal of both body and soul.
Every mourner is afforded the opportunity on how he will view the loss of a loved one. Without negating one's loss, it is beneficial to look at loss from a variety of perspectives, for as John Lubbock said, "What we see depends mainly on what we look for."
If a mourner gets stuck in a cycle of only seeing the negative then his journey through grief will most likely be a difficult one. However, if both the positive and negative aspects of grief can be accepted and addressed, the grieving process becomes more manageable.
Words of Comfort To Pave Your Journey of Loss attempts to provide mourners with helpful suggestions that can create a move towards the positive by presenting possible changes in perspective on how to view loss.
Uplifting and inspirational and written by a former widow in a "been there/done that" voice, Words of Comfort To Pave Your Journey of Loss provides a road map so that a mourner can reach a renewal of his spirit and love of life.

Grief Doesn't Have An Expiry Date
Have you ever found yourself at the receiving end of a comment such as the following? "It's been X amount of months/years. Isn't it about time to snap out of it?"
Here's a thought to share with anyone who thinks that grief has an expiry date. Missing a loved one is NOT counted by the number of days, months or years that you haven't been able to see or touch your loved one. It's about the moments when you're in the midst of celebrating a milestone or, quite often, doing everyday things and wishing that he/she could be right by your side.
This is one of the reasons that grief comes in waves and can hit you when you least expect it. For example, you might see something your loved one would have enjoyed; you're grocery shopping and his/her favorite meal is on sale; something great occurs and you want to share it with him/her; you're trying to make a decision and miss his/her input; and on and on.
This DOES NOT mean that you shouldn't move forward with your life to discover new purpose and passion and, maybe, even new love. However, even as the years pass, there will be moments when your heart skips a beat, which will cause you to remember and miss your loved one.
Please know that love never dies; it warms and enlarges your heart so that it may remain open to give and receive love.

Excellent Insights About Widowhood
Ellen Gerst has written a sensitive and practical guide about adapting to the realities of widowhood. She addresses many of the challenges that widows deal with and provides her own experiences as guideposts for navigating these challenges. It is easy to read and is a book that one can go back to over and over again for advice. As the President and Co-founder of a non profit organization dedicated to helping widows rebuild their lives, The W Connection, I have already recommended this book to a member looking for ways to get "unstuck". I highly recommend this book to widows as well as the non widowed.
This exceptional book, Celebrating the Gift of Being Alive, has the perfect thoughts and words for birthdays, graduations, engagements, marriages, and any life celebration or family tradition.
