This if the story of Peter Novak, former Airborne Ranger, a Lieutenant on the Chicago Police Department and SWAT team leader. He decides to leave the police department and all its politics behind. He is offered a position as head of security for a multinational corporation. Thinking that managing a crew of building security guards would be a cushy job, he accepts. Within the first few hours he discovers the job is anything but cushy. The building security has more holes that a block of Swiss cheese, he is immediately immersed neck deep in corporate politics and a madman is trying to kill his new boss.

Devlin has been a contract killer most of his life. He is one of the very best. The client has agreed to pay Devlin’s extremely high price to take a contract. The job appears to be simple enough. The target believes he is meeting with someone to sell information. All is not what it seems. Devlin terminates the target and retrieves the information and then all hell breaks loose. He is ambushed by a kill team. The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, the Russian SVR and several of European police forces are hunting him. To top it off another contract killer has made terminating Devlin a personal quest.
