A time-travel romance set in London.
It is 1998 and everybody is looking forward to the new millennium. Everybody hat is except Eddie. He is a guard on the London Underground and he is obsessed with the past, specifically the war years between 1939 and 1945. One evening, towards the end of a long shift, he falls asleep on the platform at Tooting Broadway tube station while reading a world war two historical reference book. When he wakes up he finds that he has travelled a lot farther than Golders Green. How did he get there? How will he get back? Will he want to get back? Only time will tell.

'Dolly...Get away from the edge!' Eddie shouted, over the clatter of the approaching train.
Dolly didn't hear his shout over the noise, but she saw him running towards her, and smiled. She waved and kept on walking down the platform towards him.
The train entered from the mouth of the tunnel, pushing a wave of warm air in front of it. The blast of air hit him in the back, propelling him onwards along the edge of the platform towards Dolly.
She was wearing her greatcoat but it was unbuttoned, and as the current of air swept up the platform it caught the folds of cloth and the coat splayed open like a khaki sail. A look of alarm crossed her face as she felt herself being spun around, and in the next instant she started to lose her balance.
As she teetered on the edge of the platform, the motorman in the oncoming train blew a single long warning blast on the whistle, and applied the emergency brake in a deafening hiss of compressed air.
Now Eddie was sprinting towards Dolly, trying desperately to stay ahead of the train while she frantically windmilled her arms, trying to keep her balance.
The train was beginning to slow down, and now it was only yards away from Dolly, but Eddie was closer. They were almost neck and neck when at the last second he lunged forward, grabbed her arm and pulled her back from the edge of the platform. A split-second later the train thundered past, the iron tyres screeching against the steel rails as the brake shoes dug in and brought it to a stop.
Eddie held Dolly tightly as the train slowed down and the warm draught subsided. Seconds later, in a cloud of brake dust, the train stopped with a jerk a car length short of the tunnel. The cab door opened and the white-faced motorman leaped out onto the platform and ran back towards them.
Dolly had her face buried in Eddie’s chest and was shaking violently. He walked her across to a bench seat and sat her down.
'Blimey love 'are you all right?' The motorman gasped as he reached where she was sitting.
Eddie looked at Dolly and smiled. 'Don’t worry, mate, she’ll be fine.
Rossiter came running onto the platform. 'What’s going on?' he shouted at the motorman. 'What did you blow up for? Why have you stopped short?'
'This young woman nearly fell in front of my bloody train, that’s what’s going on,' the motorman shouted indignantly. 'If it hadn’t been for this young lad, she would have been a dead ‘un.'
Rossiter ran up to Dolly. 'Oh my goodness,' he gasped. 'Are you all right, Dolly love?'
She had stopped shaking now and was holding Eddie’s hands tightly in hers. She nodded and looked up into Eddie’s eyes. 'Yes I think so, thanks to you.'
Rossiter sighed with relief and nodded. 'Well done, Eddie lad.'
Eddie was looking at Dolly.
I did it. I changed history.
