The Winds of Wharhalen is a tale of adventure, romance, treachery, and revenge in the Middle Ages.
Locke leaves his homeland in the mountains after a series of personal tragedies and travels south into Killarassee. He meets a pretty young peasant girl who is in the service of a cruel nobleman and seeks to buy her freedom. The treacherous noble takes Locke's gold and has him sold into slavery. Fueled by anger and sustained by his hatred of this man, Locke survives a virtual death sentence in the stone quarries, and begins an odyssey that will take him through two campaigns with the Queen's army, and see him rise through the ranks to become a knight.

In the pre-daylight hours of the next day, the sentry on the edge of Torin dozed in and out of a shallow sleep. The sound of distant hoof beats mingled with his fleeting dreams and went unheeded. When he did finally rouse himself from his fitful slumber, and he looked out across the bare tabletop approach to the small village, he saw what appeared to be shadowy horsemen emerging from the morning mist. At first he thought he was still dreaming, but as he shook the murky confusion from his head, he could see that the charging warriors were bearing down on his position.
