So many aspects of rural life are captured between the covers in this portrait of the darkest and brightest parts of humanity. The characters reveal themselves in monologues recounting the major events of their lives - each entwined around the expertly crafted villain. As with other previous works, it is this ability to reflect the parts of ourselves we most despise in the antagonist that allows us to connect so deeply with the story and the journey of the protagonist. At the heart of this tale is the companionship, loyalty, and love of dear friends, true to each other to the end and willing to protect the hope for the future regardless of the cost.

I was drawn into the story from the beginning and could not put it down. The story of 4 older women who had been friends since they were children, a bully that wanted to destroy them and the secret that they were willing to take to their grave until someone agreed to write a book about them and not publish it until after their death. Just a great story that most would enjoy reading.
