I may have cheated a little and gone about reading this novella in an unorthodox way, but I simply couldn’t help myself. When I saw the opportunity to get my hands on this, I had to take it. I first discovered J.C. Valentine’s works when reading the second installment of the Night Calls series and fell in love with her story telling style. Unfortunately I have yet to read the first book. I imagine most people who read/reviewed this are familiar with Poppy and Felix’s saga but I feel that I have a fairly good understanding of their relationship from reading the previous two works in this series. From the knowledge I’ve gathered, I can truly say that these two are my favorite pair. Move over Tate and Piper, I’ve found my new favorite couple in this fun circle of friends.
Poppy Montgomery has an issue trusting men she’s involved with, thanks to her ex. She and Felix seem to be getting along pretty well until they encounter an obstacle neither one is willing to concede in. Add to that, Felix making adjustments to their daily routine and getting caught lying while sneaking around and you’ve got a perfect recipe for mistrust. Thankfully there was a perfectly sweet explanation to his odd behavior. After being put through the emotional wringer, Poppy handled the situation like a champion. With a little help from their friends and Bo, the troubled couple was able to work out their differences in an adorable fashion.
Trust is a wonderful addition to the Night Calls series and a quick read every J.C. Valentine fan will devour. Now that I’ve fallen in love with Poppy and Felix, I will make it my mission objective to read their story.
Great Short Story!
I went into this blind to the fact that there is an actual book out about this couple. Usually with novella's you start reading them and you have no idea what's really going on because you haven't read the book that started it all. I didn't get that with this book at all. I think for me, reading this first, makes me want to go back more so and read how this couple came to be. So I do believe that's what I'm going to do next.
This novella was everything you come to expect with a short story. It had dramatic moments, funny moments and hot moments. It really did have everything.
Even though it was a fictional story, it had very real elements in it as well which made me like it even more. The up and down that comes with truly trusting someone, that plays a very big part in this novella and it was refreshing to see it written with the realism that it was. The way Poppy felt, piecing things together, whether she was wrong or not, women experience that up and down, back and forth everyday.
What else can I say? This was a fast paced, great read. Definitely recommend it.
LOVE THIS SERIES...COULD READ IT AGAIN AND AGAIN
Once again, she doesn't disappoint.
This is a continuation of Felix and Poppy's story from "Stranded." Let me just say, I love Felix. He just "does it" for me.
Things are going pretty well for Felix and Poppy. They share a condo and home together and even work together. But when Felix cannot account to Poppy some time when they aren't together and the only answer he has is he's working on "business stuff," this leads her to suspect he's cheating on her. And, it DOES look pretty suspicious. After all, he did promise to tell her the truth in exchange for her trust.
Is Poppy going to have her heart broken again? Will Felix be able to account for this time away from Poppy?
You MUST read this book. I can't recommend it enough. I really hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
