Her long-time friend and mentor, Carl Windmueller, believed in following dreams and encouraged her to go. He tries to research what she saw in the dream but is visited by a red-eyed spirit that causes him to have a massive heart attack when he gets close. Unfortunately, Clare doesn’t understand what Carl was looking into by the books on his desk. Her friend Cord gets a team together and they head back to Peru.
The re-eyed spirit does all it can to keep the team from finding it’s secret that has been kept for the past 1300 years. Near fatalities plague the team taking her back to the day her husband died. But she kept on until the truth was fully discovered.

Clare Montgomery is an Archaeologist, she used to go to digs with her husband Martin. When he dies she stays away from the place where he was killed. She is drawn back to find some answers. Teaming up with Cord, a man who has always secretly loved her, and a few others the group heads to Peru to discover the secrets of The temple of the moon, El Brujo and lady of Cao. They will need their wits, their bravery and a lot of luck as mysteries pile up. This is a great story with adventure, mystery, fun and a bit of romance. I loved the characters and the atmosphere Viv Drewa has created and shared with readers.
An Adventure Story Steeped in Mystery and Danger
Having read and loved THE ANGLER AND THE OWL by Viv Drewa, I was drawn to read THE OWL OF THE SIPAN LORD, an adventure story steeped in mystery and danger. The heroine, Clare Montgomery is cut from the Indiana Jones/Allan Quatermain cloth and takes us to Peru on an archeological dig to find answers to paranormal questions and the death of her husband. The tightly woven tale with multi-faceted, likable characters is fast paced and a perfect balance of demons and sorcery and authentic ancient Peruvian culture and love. This one made me get up in the middle of the night to cover my red-eyed clock. Another outstanding adventure form Viv Drewa.
A Great Story
Along the lines of Indiana Jones and Allan Quartermain, Drewa has come up with a humdinger of a story where the 'otherworldly' mirrors the Good vs Evil of our every day. Murder, mystery, romance, intrigue, along with spine-chilling paranormal and, of course, an owl, this book has everything a reader could want.
