Excerpt
My attention returned to the front door. A couple of holes allowed two dusty shafts of light access to the hardwood floor. My newspaper waited out there beyond those punctures and I wanted it. I didn't want a body lying on it. I didn't want blood on it. I did want to check the fight results of the Louis - Schmeling rematch. I did want to read the want ads. I did want... Well, there'd be no more in this lifetime.

Gunshots and Morning Coffee never go Together
For anyone who enjoys mysteries set amid the late 1930's, Bad News on the Doorstep by Ira Amos, is a winner. This easy to read novel has the body count (sans the gore) and a lovable wise-cracking detective who reluctantly teams with his employer, the ever-proper Arcadia Vyne, and manages to weave clues together for a surprise ending. I look forward to the next book in the Arcadia Vyne mystery series.
In this Silver Sisters Mystery it's trouble at sea when Goldie and Godiva's eighty year old mother and uncle are invied on a relaxing cruise. Magic turns to mayhem for these former vaudeville magicians when a star magician is murdered on board.
During the Christmas Season, servants Jane Meyers and Alfie Dawkins search for missing persons from opposite sides of the social spectrum: a homeless man and the Duke's son.
