A strange town appears in the desert to frighten a vacationing couple off on a week-end get-a-way.
Clark and his wife Ginger head out from their apartment in a suburb in Arizona for a weeks vacation to a resort in the desert. They expect to find the old west as a theme in the park portrait with all the buildings and clothes of the old west to make it seem real, but what they find is nothing like the brochures advertised. Were they lost in a time warp, or did this place turn out to be a joke?
Excerpt
“Clark, I don’t want to stay here.”
“Wait now, let’s think about this.” He gazed out the window for more than a few moments before he began to take notice of how strange the people really looked. He pointed out at the wagon moving toward the end of the road, the place where they entered. “See that wagon, it’s going along, but like the last one I saw it went along in a strange kind of way. Take a look.” She zeroed in on the action of the moving horse driven wagon below.
Strange how it went right up to the roads end and vanished. “See that? Where did it go?”
Then he got really excited, “Look.” A man on horseback suddenly appeared from where the wagon disappeared. “Did you see what I saw? That horse came out of nowhere.”
“Clark, you’re scaring me. It must be the way the sun’s hitting the road. Things don’t just disappear.”
“Yeah, but I also noticed how the sheriff walked. You couldn’t hear his footsteps. He seemed to glide along silently. I’m telling you, there’s something really strange here.”
