Trouble ahead. When Mindy’s horse-psychic friend Hillary elicits her help to steal a horse targeted for slaughter, they quickly learn that there are legitimate horse thieves in town and the sheriff’s department is out searching for all of them. Their partner in crime, dear sweet old Mrs. Butchling once again finds herself at the helm of this horse rescue, much like the deer herd that she, Bethann, and Mindy illegally transported across state lines not too long ago.
Along the highway, Mindy meets Shane, a utility worker for the gas company marking the territory for fracking; a controversial environmental drilling practice she vehemently opposes. Attracted to him in spite of this but armed with facts, she sets out to educate anyone who will listen, even if it means she may never see the man of her dreams again. Sadder yet, Malaki seems to like him too.

Captivating & Inspiring!
I had chills and tears as I finished reading MaryAnn Myers newest book, "Maple Dale - My Forever Home.” MaryAnn has written another wonderful novel that is filled with love, adventure, mystery, and information. She weaves the tale so effortlessly that even when she is sharing information that is important for us to learn, e.g., about the “horse business” and environmental issues, we do not feel we are being lectured. Instead, we are learning to love and appreciate the world around us in a whole new wonderful way.
Mindy, the main protagonist, is now a young lady of firm conviction and courage. As she moves through this marvelous new adventure, we can't help but love and cheer for her. We know her strength and loving heart will carry her through each event that leads her to the positive results she is seeking. Every character in the book is so real that we must keep reading, simply because we care deeply for each of them.
MaryAnn continues to teach her readers about horses and the world of those who love them. As a result, I am relating to our dog and cat in a whole new way, too. I must, because she reminds us to cherish every living creature as well as this beautiful planet on which we live. That is MaryAnn's ultimate gift to the reader.
My Forever Author
MaryAnn Myers once again brings us a story that is so much more than just about Rex and his needs. She brings us a story about the circle of life and those who watch over us. Old and new friends, those who have past on, those looking for a place in the world all come together in this heartwarming story. We revisit some old friends from this series and we watch as Mindy continues to grow.
Not only is this story about the world of horses and the barn environment that many of us hold dear, but we dive into the world of environmental harm (fracking), horse rescues, horse slaughter, coming of age, birth, cultural differences, and even the issue of weight. All these topics are dealt with in classy manner and even if you find yourself disagreeing with the positions of the characters, you come to realize that MaryAnn Myers succeeds in the most important ways as an author -- she share new ideas, entertains, and builds a story with quality characters and love.
Rex and Shane are both great additions to this story and I look forward to the progression of life for Mindy and Da.

More Trials & Tribulations for Mindy
An easy and engaging read. Mindy is always in the middle of everything and that further develops some of the characters through the variety of real life challenges they tackle. I hope that this isn't the last book in this series. Even though the story wraps up nicely -- I want more -- I'm sure there are more adventures for Mindy & Shane, Mrs Butchling & Finney, baby Da and everyone else.
