Ferdinand was a Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 1986 Kentucky Derby and 1987 Breeders' Cup Classic. He was the 1987 Eclipse Award for Horse of the Year Winner. He was a champion. He entered stud in 1989 and was sold to a breeding farm in Japan in 1994.
In 2002, when Ferdinand was no longer useful as a stud to his current owners, he was sent to slaughter. Ferdinand's tragic death became the catalyst for the Ferdinand Fee donation dedicated to keeping old racehorses alive. Ferdinand's legacy lives on....

Wonderful and a Fun Read!
MaryAnn Myers continues to deliver. Her book is well written and well edited. The stories captivated me and drew me into the surroundings so much so that I could believe I was walking along with the characters and experiencing the same situations.
Son of Royalty from "A Thoroughbred's Dream" reminds me of a few horses I have come across in my life. I sat reading this story and smiling.
Highly recommended! This is a good read for anyone who enjoys the world of horse racing and horses.

This is a real cute book written for the horse's viewpoint. Reminds me of Black Beauty. Well worth reading if you are a horse love
