Fiendishly entertaining, devilishly clever!
I must say that of everything I've read of Alex's work thus far, The New Devil series is definitely my favorite. They are all fast, easy, wildly entertaining reads that have plenty of wit and action and pull no punches. The characters are instantly memorable, and even the worst of them are not without their charm. The writing also seems much more fast-paced and sharper than in some of his other works. That is not to say planning is not essential when writing a book or series, but from what I gather, this began as an exercise in seat-of-your-pants style writing, and I think that's an approach that seems to work best, especially for a series like this.
As an avid reader, I would suggest purchasing them all in one go. I couldn't stop reading these on my work breaks. There are plenty of twists and crazy occurrences to keep you going, and once each short segment is over, you'll be dying to know what happens next. I strongly recommend this series!
