This book was written by my father, James E. Hodges, after his 20 year project of taking oral histories from those who lived through the Westward migration within our family, and their writings, and letters. He also researched the many books, and publications from the Library of  Congress, among other sources.

I published it just as he left it. It will make a good read for anyone interested in the settlement of the West, or family history of the times. It has value as a teaching aid, as the people, and the stories are real.
