Jordan opened her eyes to the confusion of darkness. The faint scent of damp burlap met her senses. Fine dust inhaled with each breath and the taste of it, as well as the rough fabric pressed against her face, convinced her that a feed sack had been placed over her head. Her temple throbbed with a pounding headache. Her shoulders hurt, it was obvious she was lying down, but she wasn't in her bed as she had at first thought.
