An excommunicated nun goes to New York in summer holidays and finds sprites in a Manhattan park. The occurrence of evil forces therein unfolds the reason of her excommunication that happens due to her rape and consequent abortion.

Valerie comes from France to New York on vacation. She is an excommunicated nun and on the first day she goes to a small park in Manhattan. A bushy, hairy man with black hair all over his body and half naked comes after a Buddha tree spoke to her surprise. The weird man stares at her. The tree knows him. He says to Valerie that she has killed his child. Valerie doubts that he is the same man who raped her in France and after it the church punished her due to aborting her child that she conceived after the rape.
Valerie prolongs her stay in New York and finds a nun's job. The bushy man pesters her and wants a marriage with her while a woman in the park says that weird man is a zombie and the French man tries to solve the mysteries of her life.

the weather. Valerie was a pretty woman and had an angular face. She was bare- headed by then. She had a long waist, and had kept a thin body. Her eyebrows looked smudged like a ghost dancer, which was due to the misuse of eyeliner in her hotel‟s dim light. Her age was in her late twenties, but her thin body made her looks younger than her real age. Her legs became fatigued after continuous walking and she found a rare gumption to enquire from a passerby in her French-accented English about the timing of those coaches and the stops. He was in a hurry to get to his workplace and in a no mood to provide directions to her. That made her tense. She murmured, “Where to go from here?” God makes this day a blessed day for me.” And then, she admitted, “This tour bus service here is an allusion to me. How long I walk in the shadow of tall buildings of Manhattan. Now I realize the silence of my small Alpine village was nice, which has a single bus stop. A person can find it in a jiffy.” Valerie referred to her home in La Veze, a small village with pastures and cultivable field, and where her parents had a farm under the shadow of a snow clad cliff. Not deterred after her big adventure of waywardness in finding the bus stop, she changed her course of walking on a side street. A disturbance in her stroll occurred when a pebble caught her shoe sole. She lifted one leg up to remove it with her hand. After a push by somebody on the pavement, she almost tripped to the ground and saved herself with a youthful balance by sitting curved. She stood up, but her momentum was gone and she felt disturbed and uncomfortable. An old woman pushing a pram indicated by her finger that the tour bus would stop at the front of the park gate when she asked her in black beads,
