Excerpt
Aelea cautiously stepped into the fringes of the forest. She would have to be very careful because many people had gone into the forest and had never come back. She decided to venture only a short distance through the tall, thick trees. Faithful's ears perked up and he sniffed the air. He ran to a clump of holly bushes and began to bark fiercely. Though she was afraid, Aelea ran to see what he was so upset about. Before she could get close to the bushes something large jumped up and out into the open. Aelea gasped. She couldn't believe what she saw. She had never seen one before, except in paintings and it was known to all that there were no more such creatures. They had died off many years ago or had left the kingdom and were never seen again. Some people said they had never existed at all and were just part of the stories people had made up to entertain each other. Just the same, here it was, a real unicorn! It had a long, full mane and tail and it was as white as the snow around it. It's sky blue eyes held magic and radiated mystery. A more beautiful creature, Aelea had never seen.
